Bringing Modern Communication to Rural Communities

Serving West Texas since 1950

West Texas Rural Telephone Cooperative (WTRT) was created in 1950 to bring essential communication services to rural areas in West Texas that had been neglected by larger providers. These early efforts were driven by the Rural Telephone Act of 1949, which provided the funding needed to build the infrastructure necessary for telephone services in underserved areas.

Expansion and Upgrades

The cooperative quickly expanded its services, ensuring that remote communities in Deaf Smith, Parmer, Castro, and Bailey counties received the telecommunications they needed to thrive. Over the years, WTRT upgraded its network with buried cables, enhanced voice communication, and improved connectivity to accommodate the growing population and business demands in the region.

1982 - WT Services Established

In 1982, WT Services was established to offer additional communication services, including broadband internet, digital TV, and voice solutions. As technology advanced, so did WT Services, with a focus on delivering GIG fiber connectivity to communities like Bushland, ensuring fast and reliable internet for residents and businesses alike. WT Services also expanded into IT networking, computer repair, and security systems to better serve the needs of rural Texans.

Today and Beyond

Today, WTRT and WT Services continue their mission to support the rural West Texas community with reliable and innovative telecommunications services. Whether through advanced broadband, two-way radios, or security systems, they remain committed to providing state-of-the-art solutions to homes, farms, and businesses across the region.
