Patrol Division

The patrol division of the Hereford Police Department consists of 18 sworn personnel, divided into three shifts.  The shifts are 8 hours in length and run from 7A-3P (Days), 3P to 11P (Evenings) and 11P-7A (Midnights.)  Each shift is comprised of up to four patrol officers, with a shift corporal.  Sergeant Valdez supervises the Day Shift, Sergeant Ruland supervises evenings and Sergeant Garza the midnight shift.

The patrol division responds to calls for service located within the city limits of Hereford.  While investigating criminal actions comprise a large segment of the patrol division's responsibility, investigation is by no means the only activity the patrol division accomplishes.  The patrol division is also responsible for traffic enforcement within the city limits, including state and city ordinances, as well as collision investigations within the city limits.  Other responsibilities of the patrol division include civic and education presentations, building checks, junked and abandoned vehicle investigations and much more.
